The Optical Society Rochester Section is welcoming all members of our optics community to attend an education and outreach planning meeting on Jan 29, 2019 at 7 PM at RIT.

The meeting will immediately follow the 6 PM talk by Nelson Tabiryan from Beam Engineering for Advanced Measurements Corporation, which is being jointly hosted by the RIT Student Chapter and the Rochester Section.

Topics for the meeting include:

  • Ways to volunteer for local outreach events as a presenter, such as Optics Suitcase demos
  • Opportunities to create new outreach content
  • Invitation to join an outreach committee that would meet 3-4 times per year
  • Ways to support local teachers and students who want to include optics in their curriculum
  • New ideas contributed from you!

For those attending the planning meeting, an assortment of boxed lunches from Panera will be provided for dinner, so that people can also attend Dr. Tabiryan’s talk from 6-7 pm immediately prior.

All are welcome. Please forward to anyone interested in education and outreach at your organization, even if they are not a member of the Optical Society of America.

PARKING: Nearest parking to the Carlson Center Building is Lot F. Parking in Lot F is free to the public after 5 PM.

Sincerely,
Ben Zwickl (President)
Jessica DeGroote Nelson (Chair of the Education Committee)
